Seahawks Fleece Infinity Scarf

Materials:

  • 3/4 yd. NFL fleece
  • 3/4 yd. NFL cotton fabric (lining)

Tools:

  • Sewing machine
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Chalk marking pencil
  • Ruler

Instructions:

1. For the fleece fabric pieces, using a ruler and a chalk pencil, measure an 11-1/2" wide rectangle that is the crosswise width of the fabric (approximately 58" to 59"). Keep the lines parallel to the team name and logos on the fabric. Cut along the lines. Trim the ends perpendicular to the long crosswise edges. Cut another rectangle 11-1/2"x8-1/2" to 16-1/2", depending on desired scarf length. Cut pieces for the lining in the same manner making the rectangles 11-1/4" wide.

2. Stitch the smaller rectangles to the larger rectangles along one 11-1/2" edge using 1/2" seam allowance. Pin the ends of the fleece strip together and try the scarf on. Shorten the length of the small rectangle so it fits around neck and hangs down in front to the length desired.

3. Unpin the fleece strip. Trim the ends of both strips to the length desired plus 1" for seam allowance.

4. Press under 1/2" on each 11-1/2" end of the cotton strip. With the right side of the fabrics facing, pin the cotton strip and the fleece strip together along the long edges. Stitch 1/2" from the long edges. Lightly press or finger-press the seams open.

5. Turn the scarf right side out. Press or finger-press the long edges so the seam is along the edge of the flattened scarf. Pin then stitch the edges of the fleece fabric together using a 1/2" seam allowance and keeping the lining fabric away from area being stitched.

6. Press or finger-press the seam open. Slipstitch the edges of the cotton fabric together.
