Gauge: 4.5 stitches/6 rows per inch on US #7 needles
Size: Adult Medium
- Needle size US #7/16" circular
- Cascade 220 Superwash, light worsted weight, 220 yards per skein, 1 skein each:
- MC: 9449 Blue
- CC1: 7814 Chartreuse
- CC2: 8505 White
- CC3: 8501 Grey
- Stitch Marker
- Needle for weaving in ends
NOTE: You'll have enough yarn to knit at least 3 hats (switching the colors around may yield a fourth hat!). All three of our models have grey added as a 4th color. Hats can be done as pattern or change blue & grey.
With MC, cast on 92 sts. Place marker, join to work in the round.
Round 1: Corrugated Ribbing: *K2 MC, p2 CC. Repeat from * to end of the round. Repeat Rough 1 until piece measures 1" or desired length from the cast on edge.
Work Chart (using original chart below, or with color changes) rounds 1-33, increasing 4 sts evenly on 1st round (96 sts). Hat should measure 6.5" from the cast on edge.
Continuing in MC, shape crown as described below changing to double pointed needles as needed.
Round 1: *Work 6m k2tog. Repeat from * around. [84 sts remain]
Round 2: Work even.
Round 3: *Work 5, k2tog. Repeat from * around. [72 sts remain]
Round 4: Work even.
Round 5: *Work 4, k2tog. Repeat from * around. [60 sts remain]
Round 6: Work even.
Round 7: *Work 3, k2tog. Repeat from * around. [48 sts remain]
Round 8: Work even.
Round 9: *Work 2, k2tog. Repeat from * around. [36 sts remain]
Round 10: Work even.
Round 11: *Work 1, k2tog. Repeat from * around. [24 sts remain]
Round 12: Work even.
Round 13: *K2tog. Repeat from * around. [12 sts remain]
Cut yarn. leaving a generous tail. Draw tail through remaining stitches on the needle. Pull gently to close hole. Weave in tail. Weave in ends.
