Ribbon Monster Pails

Frankenstein Materials:

  • Quart-sized pail
  • 5 yards of green 3/8” wide ribbon
  • 2 inches of skinny red ribbon
  • Black felt
  • Large wiggly eyes
  • Wooden spools
  • Silver acrylic paint
  • Strong double-stick tape (such as Meriken or Wonder Tape)
  • Ultimate Craft Glue

Frankenstein Instructions:

1. Working from the bottom-up, wrap pail with double-stick tape-stopping just below where the handle meets the pail

2. Wrap the entire taped area with green ribbon. Save a small scrap for later

3. Using the Die Cut Center, cut Frankenstein’s hair with “Border-Grass” punch #XLC-8. Adhere around the top of the pail with double-stick tape.

4. Make Frank’s face: With the Ultimate Craft Glue, stick on the eyes and red ribbon for his mouth. Glue the leftover scrap of green ribbon across the top of the eyes to give Frank his classic brow line

5. Paint two wooden spools with silver acrylic paint. These will become his neck bolts. Glue them on either side of the pail. (Tip: It’s easiest to glue these on one by one-tilt and rest the pail on one side while the glue sets.)

“IT’S ALIVE!!!!”

Mummy Materials:

  • Quart-sized pail
  • 5 yards of white 3/8” wide ribbon
  • Gray stamp pad
  • Large wiggly eyes
  • Strong double-stick tape (such as Meriken or Wonder Tape)
  • Ultimate Craft Glue

Mummy Instructions:

1. Loosely wrap the pail in a crisscross pattern with double-stick tape. Make sure to not cover the pail completely-leave some open spaces

2. Rub the white ribbon with a gray stamp pad to make the ribbon look aged

3. Cut the ribbon into a few large lengths. Wrap ribbon pieces randomly around the pail-trying to cover up the taped areas. Leave the ribbon ends hanging off slightly-it will look like the mummy’s “gauze” is unraveling a bit. However, if any ribbon strips want to fall off completely, secure with some Ultimate Craft Glue

4. Using the Ultimate Craft Glue, stick on the eyes
